Marvel Television’s new release, Wonder Man, is officially releasing January 27th, with all eight episodes dropping on Disney+, but what is this show about?
Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is an aspiring actor who finds the opportunity of a lifetime through an open casting call for the role of Wonder Man. During the journey of auditioning, Simon discovers that this role has a requirement he may not fulfill.

This new series is created by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Andrew Guest (Community, Hawkeye), and features new faces.

Wonder Man has actually been in production since April 2023, with only one small crumb of information coming from a set leak. Unfortunately, due to the WGA strike, Wonder Man paused development, later resuming in early 2024.
Marvel has released hints through posters suggesting there is a legal policy in the industry called “The Doorman Clause,” hinting at the Great Lakes Avenger Doorman, rumored to be played by Byron Bowers. Doorman is a mutant with the power to teleport by creating portals through the Darkforce Dimension, hinting that the series will dive deeper into the Mutant Saga of the MCU.

This isn’t the only thing the show is hinting at, as it has been confirmed that the Department of Damage Control (DODC) is set to return, with Agent Foster (Gary Weeks) also reprising his role. With the return of the DODC, this also leans into recent reports of the organization attempting to eliminate mutants and making an appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, leading fans to speculate about the creation of Sentinels.

So far, Marvel has released very little information about the project, but Wonder Man is shaping up to be a promising series and a breath of fresh air.
Wonder Man releases January 27th on Disney + with a 8 episode premiere.
